Dr Marco Sanka is a Lecturer in the Department of Business Management at the Moshi Co-operative University, with a strong academic and practical background in econometrics, applied microeconomics, applied statistics, environmental valuation and policy, agricultural finance, and advanced impact evaluation techniques. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He holds a Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Makerere University, Uganda, and a Bachelor of Arts in Statistics from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Dr Sanka has accumulated extensive experience in university teaching and research. Currently, he is a lecturer at Moshi Co-operative University in Tanzania. While pursuing his PhD at the University of Pretoria, he also served as a tutor and graduate assistant in undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including applied econometrics, applied microeconomics, introduction to environmental and natural resource economics, and environmental valuation and policy. These roles have sharpened his technical and pedagogical skills, while deepening his expertise in policy analysis, impact evaluation, and applied economic modelling. These academic roles have strengthened his technical and pedagogical expertise, particularly in applied economic analysis and quantitative methods, while enabling him to conduct impactful research and mentor students.

His research interests are in agricultural policies, agricultural finance, behavioural economics, sustainable agriculture, food security, development economics, resources and environmental economics, rural livelihoods, climate-smart agriculture, climate change financing, and Impact evaluation. He is skilled in designing household surveys, analysing large datasets using impact evaluation techniques and advanced panel data econometrics. He is proficient in STATA, R and SPSS for data analysis. Marco has contributed to academic publications, technical reports, and policy briefs to inform decision-makers and development stakeholders. Fluent in both English and Kiswahili, Marco is passionate about evidence-based research that supports agricultural transformation, poverty reduction, and inclusive development.
