The Department of Co-operative Education (DCE) is one of the two academic departments at KICoB, contributing to teaching, research, consultancy, and community service in co-operatives, community development, and business professionalism.

DCE was formulated in January 2021 concurrently with the approval of KICoB by the Tanzania Commission for Universities after the transformation of the former Kizumbi Teaching Centre. Its ambition is to become a premier provider of co-operative education in the country and to produce competent professionals who contribute to socio-economic development.

Welcome Note

The department welcomes students, stakeholders, and visitors to a cool and conducive environment at KICoB that supports efficient and effective study. DCE is described on the page as one of the two academic departments established with KICoB’s approval in 2021.

Mr. Oigen Daudi Usiri holds a BA in Co-operative Management and Accounting from MoCU, a Diploma in the same field from MoCU, and a Certificate in Accounting and Finance from SUA. Dr. Paulin Paul Gahesherwa is an experienced educator and rural development specialist. He holds a Diploma in Education from Mtwara Teachers’ College and has taught at secondary schools for over eight years. He earned his PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees in Rural Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).

Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer at KICoB–MoCU, Dr. Paul has previously coordinated regional outreach programmes at MoCU in Kilimanjaro and Mwanza. His expertise includes educational management, cooperative development, project planning and evaluation, gender in development, and Public-Private Partnerships.

Ms. Neema Lucy John

Ms. Neema Lucy John is an Assistant Lecturer at Moshi Co-operative University, KICoB. She holds a Master of Arts in Co-operative and Community Development, a Bachelor of Arts in Microfinance and Enterprise Development, and diplomas in Finance and Banking as well as Business Management. Her experience includes academic roles and work as a Loan Officer at WAZALENDO SACCOS. Fluent in Kiswahili and English, Neema is passionate about education, community development, and cooperative financial services.

Mr. Regan John Ndosi

Mr. Regan John Ndosi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Co-operative Management and Accounting (Management Option) from Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). He currently serves as a Tutorial Assistant at Moshi Co-operative University, Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative Business Education (KICoB). Prior to this, he worked at the Hai District Co-operative Office, where he provided education and training to members of SACCOs and AMCOs within the district.

Dr. Richard Msuya

Dr. Richard Msuya is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Cooperative Education at the Institute of Cooperative and Business Education (KICoB), Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU), Tanzania. He holds a PhD in Co-operative and Microfinance Management from MoCU, Tanzania.

He also graduated with a Master’s degree in Cooperative and Community Development and a Bachelor’s Degree in Cooperative Management and Accounting from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania.

Dr. Msuya began his academic career as a Tutorial Assistant at the then Moshi University College of Co-operative and Business Studies (MUCCoBS) in 2010 and was promoted through various academic ranks, becoming a Senior Lecturer in 2021.

Since his first appointment, Dr. Msuya has participated in teaching, research, consultancies, and community services in the fields of co-operatives, community development, microfinance, and accounting. He teaches research in areas allied to Co-operative Management, Microfinance Management, Community Development, and Accounting.
