With great esteem, I would like to welcome you all to the Department of Business Management (DBM) of Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Education (KICoB), an institute of Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). DBM formally came into being during the establishment of KICoB in January 2021 concurrently with the establishment of KICoB by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). Fortified with competent expertise from member academic staff DBM is well equipped in executing the core responsibilities of teaching, research, consultancy and community services in co-operatives, community development and business professionalism. DBM strives to ensure the best knowledge in co-operative and business practice is disseminated among its stakeholders engaging in divers socio-economic fields and acting at the forefront in the achievement of national and international goals.

Overview statement from HoD
The Department of Business Management (DBM) at Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Education (KICoB) commits to the attainment of MoCU strategic objectives and vision. In building capacity within the country, the department ensures the provision of relevant practical knowledge in cooperative business practice. With the three core responsibilities of Teaching, Research and consultancy, in executing its teaching role it hosts four programmes; Diploma in Microfinance Management (DMFM), Certificate in Enterprise Development (CED), Certificate in Microfinance Management (CMF) and Certificate of Human Resource Management (CHRM), the diploma programme is a 2-year program and the certificate are 1-year programme. Members of the department have qualifications relevant for the successful execution of the various responsibilities were there two (2) PhD holders, nine (9) Master's degrees (of which three are currently doing their PhD), and four (4) Bachelor's degree holders (of which two are currently doing their Master's degree).

Co-operative Business Management
Co-operative Business Management consultation specializes in supporting the establishment and growth of co-operative enterprises. This service guides groups in forming and managing co-operatives, emphasizing cooperative principles, governance, and sustainable business practices.
Business Strategic Planning
Business Strategic Planning consultation involves developing comprehensive plans to guide businesses in achieving their long-term objectives. This service includes goal-setting, market analysis, risk assessment, and the formulation of strategies to ensure a competitive and sustainable business position.

Our Programmes
Description & Minimum Entry Requirements:
This is a two years full-time program conducted under the semester system, with 2 semesters for each year of study. The requirement for applicants into the program is a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in four approved subjects, obtained before sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least two Principal level passes. For those to be admitted with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Certificate in Accounting, Finance, Microfinance or Business Administration from an accredited/recognized institution of education of not less than a PASS grade and an ‘O’ level credit pass with at least a D grade in Mathematics. Applications for admissions are normally invited once a year between February and September.
