Diploma in Microfinance Management (DMFM)

Description & Minimum Entry Requirements:
This is a two years full-time program conducted under the semester system, with 2 semesters for each year of study. The requirement for applicants into the program is a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in four approved subjects, obtained before sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least two Principal level passes. 1. Bachelor Programmes

Dr Marco Sanka is a Lecturer in the Department of Business Management at the Moshi Co-operative University, with a strong academic and practical background in econometrics, applied microeconomics, applied statistics, environmental valuation and policy, agricultural finance, and advanced impact evaluation techniques. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He holds a Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Makerere University, Uganda, and a Bachelor of Arts in Statistics from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Dr Sanka has accumulated extensive experience in university teaching and research. Currently, he is a lecturer at Moshi Co-operative University in Tanzania. While pursuing his PhD at the University of Pretoria, he also served as a tutor and graduate assistant in undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including applied econometrics, applied microeconomics, introduction to environmental and natural resource economics, and environmental valuation and policy. These roles have sharpened his technical and pedagogical skills, while deepening his expertise in policy analysis, impact evaluation, and applied economic modelling. These academic roles have strengthened his technical and pedagogical expertise, particularly in applied economic analysis and quantitative methods, while enabling him to conduct impactful research and mentor students.

His research interests are in agricultural policies, agricultural finance, behavioural economics, sustainable agriculture, food security, development economics, resources and environmental economics, rural livelihoods, climate-smart agriculture, climate change financing, and Impact evaluation. He is skilled in designing household surveys, analysing large datasets using impact evaluation techniques and advanced panel data econometrics. He is proficient in STATA, R and SPSS for data analysis. Marco has contributed to academic publications, technical reports, and policy briefs to inform decision-makers and development stakeholders. Fluent in both English and Kiswahili, Marco is passionate about evidence-based research that supports agricultural transformation, poverty reduction, and inclusive development.

Dr. Masatu Julius Malima is a Lecturer in the Department of Business Management at the Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Eduation (KICoB), Tanzania. He holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), where he also earned both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Linguistics and Education, respectively.

Eng. Athuman B. Mustapha is an ICT, networking, and cybersecurity professional with a
strong blend of academic qualifications and industry experience. He holds a Master of
Science in Information Systems and Network Security from the Nelson Mandela African
Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer
Engineering, and a Full Technician Certificate in Computer Engineering, both from the
Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT).
He currently serves as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Business Management at
the Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Studies (KICoB) of Moshi Co-operative
University (MoCU). His teaching, research, and consultancy work cover the broad spectrum
of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), including:

Before joining academia, Eng. Mustapha gained extensive hands-on experience through
various technical and engineering roles. He served as a Network and Transmission
Engineer at ZANTEL (T) Ltd, a Network Surveillance Engineer with HUAWEI
International Ltd, and an ICT Technician in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.
He has also contributed to consultancy and community-based technology projects with
organizations such as Johns Hopkins University CCP Tanzania, Red Cross Tanzania
(Shinyanga), and SHIMASA CBO, focusing on ICT systems deployment, digital solutions,
capacity building, entrepreneurship support, and project planning.

Dr. Odax Manumbu Lawrence is a Senior Lecturer, consultant, and researcher at the Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Education (KICoB), a constituent of Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). He holds a PhD in Education from MoCU, and both a Master of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Dar es Salaam. His academic career began in 2014, rising to Senior Lecturer by July 2024.

Dr. Odax plays significant roles in institutional governance, including serving as Risk Management Champion since March 2025, Chair of the Strategic Plan Implementation Team since December 2023, and Academic Staff Representative on the MoCU Workers’ Board since May 2023. He also coordinates Sports and Recreation at KICoB and previously served as Examination Coordinator for the Faculty of Business and Information Sciences.

Mr. Frank Crispin Kinabo

Mr. Frank Crispin Kinabo is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Law at Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). He is also engaged in research and consultancy. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Master of Laws in Corporate and Commercial Relations (LL.M) from the University of Bagamoyo. Previously, he served as an Assistant Lecturer at Mwenge Catholic University (MWECAU). His areas of interest include Intellectual Property, Environmental Law, Corporate Law, Tax Law, Criminal Law, and International Trade and Finance Law.

Ms. Karen Archibald

Ms. Karen Archibald is a dedicated professional in the field of Banking and Finance, holding both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in the discipline. She has served as an Assistant Lecturer at the Institute of Accountancy Arusha, gaining extensive experience in academic delivery and curriculum development. Her passion extends beyond academia into community development and youth empowerment through her work with Training For Life Tanzania. She currently serves as an Assistant Lecturer at Moshi Co-operative University, Kizumbi Campus (KICoB).

Dr. Christina Alfred Mwakabumbe

Dr. Christina A. Mwakabumbe is a highly accomplished academic and finance specialist currently serving as the Head of the Department of Business Management (DBM) at the Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Education (KICoB), Moshi Co-operative University.

She holds a PhD in Finance, a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from Mzumbe University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Cooperative Management and Accounting from Sokoine University. With a strong foundation in cooperative finance, her career began as a cashier at the Morogoro Vocational Teachers Training College (MVTTC), which laid the groundwork for her transition into academia.
