Institutional Background
A growing academic arm of the University
Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Education (KICoB) is one of the two institutes of Moshi Co-operative University. The Institute is located in Shinyanga Region, about six kilometres from the city centre along the Tabora–Mwanza road.
The Institute came into existence following the upgrading of the former Kizumbi Teaching Center in 2021 by the Tanzania Commission for Universities. It operates under the office of the Vice Chancellor (VC), reflecting its formal place within the wider university governance structure.
Historical Milestones
Foundation Phase
The institutional story began with the former Kizumbi Teaching Center, which laid the groundwork for academic and professional development in the area.
2021 Upgrade
In 2021, the teaching center was upgraded by the Tanzania Commission for Universities, giving rise to Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Education as a recognised institute of MoCU.
Expanded Mandate
Following its upgrade, the Institute assumed a broader mandate in training, research, and consultancy, particularly in the fields of Co-operative and Business Management.
